Our Commitment
Eveningside Labs is committed to ensuring that our website, eveningsidelabs.com, is accessible to all people, including those with disabilities. We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines establish a widely accepted standard for web accessibility and define how to make web content more accessible to people with a broad range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, cognitive, and neurological impairments.
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly review our website and work to identify and remove barriers that may prevent users from fully accessing our content and services.
Measures We Have Taken
To support accessibility, we have implemented the following measures:
- Semantic HTML.We use proper HTML elements (<header>, <nav>, <main>, <article>, <footer>) and a logical heading hierarchy (h1 through h6) to ensure that screen readers and assistive technologies can accurately interpret the structure of each page.
- Keyboard navigation. All interactive elements, including links, buttons, forms, and modals, are fully operable using a keyboard alone. Focus indicators are visible to help users track their position on the page.
- Colour contrast. Text and interactive elements maintain a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text, in compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA requirements. Our dark mode has been independently evaluated for contrast compliance.
- Alternative text. All meaningful images include descriptive alt attributes. Decorative images are marked with empty alt text or aria-hidden to prevent screen-reader interference.
- Responsive design. The website is designed to be usable at various viewport sizes and supports text scaling up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Form accessibility. All form fields have associated labels, required fields are clearly indicated, and error messages are programmatically linked to the relevant input using aria-describedby attributes.
- Skip navigation.A “Skip to main content” link is available for keyboard users to bypass repetitive navigation elements.
- Reduced motion. We respect the “prefers-reduced-motion” operating system setting and disable or reduce animations for users who have enabled it.
- ARIA attributes. Where native HTML semantics are insufficient, we use WAI-ARIA roles, states, and properties to convey meaning and interactivity to assistive technologies.
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some areas of the website may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations include:
- Third-party embeds. Some embedded content from third-party providers (such as the Calendly scheduling widget) may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA. We are in communication with these providers to improve accessibility and provide alternative means of access where possible (e.g., a direct email or phone option for scheduling).
- PDF documents. Older PDF documents linked from the Site may not be fully tagged for screen-reader compatibility. We are working to remediate these files and will provide accessible alternatives upon request.
- Legacy blog content. Some older blog posts may contain images without adequate alternative text. We are conducting a content audit to address these gaps.
Conformance Status
We believe that our website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard, primarily due to the third-party limitations noted above. We are actively working to achieve full conformance and intend to conduct a formal third-party accessibility audit within the next twelve months.
Assistive Technology Compatibility
Our website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies: NVDA and JAWS on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, TalkBack on Android, and common browser zoom and text resizing features. If you experience issues with any assistive technology not listed here, please let us know.
